There are at least three other books in the series Anne Arrives: Anne’s Kindred Spirits and Anne’s Tragical Tea Party. Any age could listen (if they are able to sit and enjoy a story), but best for the seven or eight and up crowd for solo reading. You could do this as a bedtime read, a few pages at a time, but it might be a bit harder for a group setting. They tell the story by supporting the text. The colors are not “popping off the page” but they are center to the images. There are delightful illustrations that are rich in detail and colors. It might be a bit dated (the clothing in particular), and it might not be the most politically correct story (the bias of the teacher against Anne, the teasing is “boys will be boys” and the whole “damsel in distress” scenario), but still cozy.
If you know the longer novel format of Anne of Green Gables, you know this chapter in her life. The teasing, the teachers bias against Anne, and the fiery temper of our gal is all there, even the rescue of our gal when she gets in over her head.
We follow Anne (Anne with an E) and her friends as the new boy comes to school.
